indie sleaze party

this playlist came to be after sophie, maddie, and i had a conversation about indie sleaze. and an indie sleaze themed party. i never changed the name after i continued adding to the playlist because i think it still fits perfectly. anyways, here i go again with the 2000s subcultures! for anyone unfamiliar, indie sleaze can be categorized as messy and nostalgic, the fashion grunge. but sparkly too. when it comes to the music, my mind always goes to sky ferreira or bands like the strokes. similarly to the rest of my playlists, i tried to include a variety of different artists, all songs that gave me the same feeling.

one specific artist in this playlist that i wanted to highlight is phantogram. i have gotten much more into phantogram in the past year, and a lot of their songs give me the same feeling of nostalgia that this playlist was inspired by. one of my favorite songs for the last few months is their own, titled “attaway.”

another thing that i want to highlight is charli xcx’s true romance. i think to me this album embodies the feeling of indie sleaze, calling back to the messy, nostalgic, and sparkly feeling!!
