What is the most gut-wrenching song you’ve ever listened to?

Maddie’s answer: One of my favorite songs of all time, but it is so sad every time - “The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire. I made a video to go with the song for my senior thesis.

Sophie’s answer: To be honest I avoid gut-wrenching songs most of the time (act of self preservation) but maybe something Sufjan Stevens… “Futile Devices” comes to mind. Or like “Sun Bleached Flies” by Ethel Cain.

Allison’s answer: “Paper Bag” by Fiona Apple. It used to be my go-to crying song and it still punches me in the gut every time I listen to it. She just gets it.
